Dr. Erika Ristok, N.D.

I have been providing naturopathic family care since 1998, when I graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario.

Training in this four-year full time program includes medical sciences, diagnostics, and naturopathicphilosophy and therapeutics as well as extensive clinical experience.  Prior to this I received an Honour’s undergraduate degree in Psychology from McMaster University, earning several scholarships and a place on the Dean’s Honour Roll in the process.

My young family and I live in the Bronte area of Oakville, where I run my naturopathic health clinic.  In addition, I provide care at Discover Wellness Within in Milton, where I have several times been selected for the Milton Canadian Champion readers’ choice awards. I have been a clinical faculty member at the teaching health clinic of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and am an active member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors, the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, Mindfulness Halton-Peel Professionals, and the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.

As part of my commitment to public education, I speak to community groups on a variety of naturopathic health care topics.  I presented on Spirituality and Transformational Healing in Naturopathic Practice at the 2015 annual conference of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors. I have also made appearances on CITY TV’s Breakfast Television, and have been interviewed on the radio.

I have expanded my personal and professional learning through studies in Mindfulness Meditation, including Mindfulness and Neuroscience at the Centre for Mindfulness in Toronto; Mind-Body Medicine Workshop Intensives with long-time mindfulness practitioner Dr. Paul Epstein, N.D.; and with Psychiatrist and Mindfulness Meditation teacher Dr. Stéphane Treyvaud.

I am a Level 1 graduate of Transformative Mindfulness Methods, a course certified jointly by Transformative Mindfulness International and Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work’s Applied Mindfulness Meditation Program at the University of Toronto, and have taken coursework through the Greater Good Science Centre at the University of California, Berkeley. I am passionate about inspiring my clients and guiding them to optimal health through integration of body, mind and spirit using traditional naturopathic therapies and mindfulness/counselling

combined with modern scientific research.

I am especially interested in all aspects of nutrition, from food introduction for babies to healthy foods for children and families, and detoxification support. Food allergy testing, gut and immune health, mood issues, women’s health concerns, and pediatric care are other areas of special interest. I have been told that my gentle and compassionate manner puts children at ease, and parents find my attachment parenting philosophy to be both common-sense and reassuring.

My purpose is to:

  • Enable you to feel a sense of peace and connectedness every day; to eat a varied, healthy, local diet; to engage in activities that are revitalizing and expressive of your true self.

  • Improve digestive, immune, and stress-related issues

  • Support you in raising children who are healthy; physically, emotionally, and in spirit.

  • As your naturopathic doctor, I will work with you to optimize your health. By learning about you and the environment in which you live, a treatment plan that meets your current needs will be designed, whether this involves helping you to rebuild or maintain your health.

On a personal note…

I have been involved in several environmental groups including OakvilleGreen, Go Local Oakville, Halton Environment Network and Eat Local Burlington. I love to cook – especially local foods, and it's even better if they’re from MY own garden! I enjoy spreading the word about meetup.com, since I love to see people connect with others and spend time doing the things they’re passionate about. Hiking, cycling, mountain biking, scrapbooking, yoga, meditation, book clubs, and rock-climbing with my children are some of the activities I enjoy.

Book an appointment with me today to get naturopathic medicine working for your family.
